We Love Volunteers Who Aren’t Afraid of Hard Work
We need help from volunteers willing to help with:

  • Poop scooping and cleaning
  • Fundraising in your community
  • Doing laundry 5- 8 loads of dog laundry daily
  • Scrubbing water tanks and feed bowls
  • Manure pickup
  • Ground keeping
  • Fence mending and building repair
  • Cleaning and scrubbing dog areas

Yup, it’s dirty hard work. We hold an open house twice a year for people who
just want to pet or visit with the animals.

Foster Homes Are Needed for Dogs
To be considered for a foster home, your animals must get along with other animals. No exceptions. Your foster pet and your own pets must live together as a household family member not outside in a pen or on a tether, separated in other rooms, or in crates. They are integrated and live as a part of a pack.

Your own animals must be up to date with all vaccinations, flea treatment, worm medicine and be spayed and neutered. You are required to help teach the dog basic commands while in your care including crate training, housebreaking, and basic house manners.

Food and vet care are provided by HCF.  Fostering can be as short as 48 hours or as long as 48 months. We often need temporary foster families for just two weeks.  This is also a great way to see if your family is prepared for the lifetime commitment of having a dog as a permament family member.
